Sarver, PA (May 24, 2014)  With a press box full of Diehl Automotive employees and families, Defending Diehl Mods Track Champion Mat Williamson scored the first win of his title defense.  The Precise Late Models stole the show, though, with a thrilling race that saw Mike Pegher Jr. prevail over John Garvin Jr., Alex Ferree, Russ King and Chub Frank in what can only be described as a barnburner!  Danny Holtgraver took advantage of a night off from the All Star tour for some home cooking at the Action Track and scored his second Peoples TWP Sprint win of the season.  Finally, Chris Schneider climbed into Terry Young’s #28Y for the night and swept his heat and feature for the 21st Sportsman/Stock win of his career; tying him for fifth all time with Rick Robinson.

Defending Champ Mat Williamson nets his first win of the season
Pegher wins a thriller, Holtgraver runs away, Schneider steals one

Sarver, PA (May 23, 2014) With division sponsor Diehl Automotive on hand for their annual Night at the Races, Defending Track Champion Mat Williamson picked up his first feature win of the season over Jeremiah Shingledecker. Mike Pegher Jr. prevailed in the best race of the season so far, holding off John Garvin Jr., Chub Frank, Russ King and Alex Ferree in a barnburner. Danny Holtgraver made it two-for-two in Peoples TWP Sprint features in 2014 after passing early leader Jack Sodeman Jr. mid-race. Chris Schneider, subbing for Terry Young, stole a win away from Two-Time Defending Pic-A-Part Sportsman Track Champion Corey McPherson and then had to hold off last week’s feature winner Jim Fosnaught to secure his first win of the season, although it was the second win for the #28Y as Terry Young drove it to victory on Opening Night.

Jared Zimbardi rewarded for good decision, wins first Lernerville Feature
Jim Fosnaught bests Sportman division in front of employers

Sarver, PA (May 18, 2014)  2014 has already been a banner season for the King family out of Bristolville, OH.  Russ King won the Opening Night feature in the Precise Late Models, Rex King Jr. won the second Fab Four Racing feature of the season on May 2 in the Diehl Modifieds and this past Friday Night, their father Rex King Sr., (a.k.a. The Bandit), completed the King Family Hat Trick for their third feature win of the season in as many weeks of Fab Four Racing.  But for good measure, Russ backed up dad’s win in the Precise Late Models to become the first repeat feature winner of 2014.  That’s four feature wins for the King Family in just 12 Fab Four Racing features; someone might want to put one or any of them in a Sportsman/Stock car!

Jared Zimbardi scores career first Lernerville Feature win on Peoples TWP Night

Peoples Natural Gas employee Jim Fosnaught wins

Sarver, PA (May 16, 2014) Peoples TWP and Natural Gas brought almost 500 people to the Action Track for their annual Night at the Races and Jared Zimbardi thrilled the division sponsor with his first career Lernerville feature win. Rex King Sr. became the third member of the King Family to win in as many weeks of Fab Four Racing with his feature win in the Diehl Mods and then his son Russ became the first repeat feature winner of 2014 in the Precise Late Models by holding off a hard-charging Jared Miley. Jim Fosnaught, an employee of Peoples Natural Gas, scored an emotional feature win in the Pic-A-Part Sportsman to bring the night to a close. Once again the Finest Race Fans in the World generously donated to help others in the community by way of the Dollar Energy Fund that helps the underprivileged heat their homes in the winter. The Dollar Energy Auction raised $755, but with the matching dollar-for-dollar by Peoples TWP, that total jumps up to $1,510!

Lee Jacobs scores first career UNOH All Star Win - All Star Race Report 5.9

Lee Jacobs scores first career UNOH All Star Win at Lernerville

SARVER, PA. – Lee Jacobs watched his dad, Kenny, take the checkered 98 times against the University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions. On Friday, because of threatening weather, Kenny decided to stay home as Lee took his team to Lernerville to battle the All Stars. It paid off for Lee as he scored his first career series win…and he couldn’t wait to call dad.

“This is a hell of a feeling to get my first All Star win at Lernerville…that’s where Dad had his last All Star win. And, to do it at a place where my car owners and my family have had so much success is pretty cool,” said Lee beside his Amanda Lewis/Simcox Grinding & Steel/Crown Investments/New Leaf Tree Service/OC Shocks/Butler Built/Fire & Ice Pub backed #81.

Dan Angelicchio and Adam Hilton take the checkers in RUSH Action

Sarver, PA (May 9, 2014) Despite a questionable forecast and mid-program drizzle, the All Star Sprints, RUSH Late Models and RUSH Sportsman Modifieds completed an action packed program with Lee Jacobs, Dan Angelicchio and Adam Hilton standing victorious in Sheetz Victory Lane. Lee Jacobs took advantage of starting from the outside pole to take the lead at the drop of the green flag. A handful of cautions and heavy lapped traffic in long stretches of green flag actions tested the mettle of Jacobs; son of All Time Sprint Great Kenny Jacobs. The Wild Child Jac Haudenschild once again lived up to his moniker by thrilling the crowd with slide jobs under and big runs off the top of turn four past polesitter Cole Duncan. Haudenschild and Duncan battled for second for much of the race, which allowed Jacobs to runaway virtually unchallenged for his first career Lernerville feature win. 2010 Track Champion Danny Holtgraver snookered Duncan late in the race for third. Former Track Champion and Multiple Time All Star Champion Dale Blaney also passed Duncan late for fourth which relegated Duncan to fifth. Dan Angelicchio stayed ahead of some chaotic incidents mid-pack to score his first career Lernerville feature win in the RUSH Late Model Series, while Adam Hilton of Buffalo, NY scored the feature win in the debut of the RUSH Sportsman Modified Series at the Action Track.

Ferree, King, Bowser and McPherson take Checkers - Fab Four Race Report 5.2

Breast Cancer Awareness Night nets $1,240 for Komen for the Cure

Sarver, PA (May 4, 2014)  Like so many things in life, a fast and tacky Action Track is always a love/hate siutation.  For the guy standing in Sheetz Victory Lane celebrating a breathtaking win with his family and crew, it was the best racing surface they’ll see all season, but not so much for the guy that suffered mechanical failure or had to see his racecar towed to the pits after a wreck.  The fast paced features were much to the liking of feature winners Alex Ferree, Rex King Jr., Carl Bowser and Corey McPherson, but drivers like Brandon Matus, John Garvin, Mike Pegher, Brian Swartzlander, Mat Williamson and Jeremiah Shingledecker did not like how their night came to an early end.

Rex King Jr. beats his dad to the checkers
Corey McPherson steers his way to Sheetz Victory Lane

Sarver, PA (May 2, 2014) On a lightning fast track created by a week’s worth of rain and manicuring by the Action Track Prep Crew, Defending Precise Late Model Track Champion Alex Ferree and 2011 Peoples TWP Sprint Track Champion Carl Bowser took their #10 cars to Sheetz Victory Lane. Ferree inherited the lead after John Garvin Jr. went sailing off the top of turn two and Bowser passed Brandon Matus in the same turn to take the lead on unlucky lap 13 for Matus. Rex King Jr. scored the feature win in the Diehl Mods; his father Rex King Sr. chased him to the checkers in second. Corey McPherson brought the night to a close with a strong win in the Pic-A-Part Sportsman without much assistance from his power steering!

Opening Night 2014 Race Report 4.18

Opening Night sees Holtgraver, King, Swartzlander and Young in Sheetz Victory Lane

Sarver, PA (April 19, 2014)  There’s nothing quite like Opening Night at Lernerville Speedway; seeing familiar faces, smelling the fumes that evoke childhood memories of “the good old days” and most importantly, being back at our second home.  For drivers, winning on Opening Night is extra special because it starts the season on a high note that tends to carry on throughout the season.  None of tonight’s feature winners were new to Sheetz Victory Lane, but getting the first win of the season sure feels like winning for the first time all over again!

Opening Night Quick Results 4.18

Danny Holtgraver and Russ King return to Sheetz Victory Lane
All Time Wins Leader Brian Swartzlander scores career feature win #83
Terry Young holds off Corey McPherson for Sportsman feature win

Sarver, PA (April 18, 2014)  Danny Holtgraver and Russ King have both won bigger races in their careers at Lernerville Speedway, (Holtgraver won an All Star feature two years ago and King won the Uncle Sam 30 last summer), but it’s always great to win on Opening Night!  Holtgraver had to run down fellow former Peoples TWP Sprint Car Track Champion Carl Bowser to score the feature win in a tune up for May 9’s All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint race presented by Turner’s Premium Iced Teas.  King officially led the entire race, but had to battle with Mike Pegher Jr. on lap 17 to score the Precise Late Models feature win.  Pegher drove past King on the back straightaway to briefly take the lead, but King battled back and took Pegher to the wall in turn four.  Pegher checked up, but contact was still made and King maintained the lead at the flagstand.  King then drove away from Pegher and Jared Miley to score the feature win.  Brian Swartzlander extended his All Time Division wins lead with his 83 career feature win in the Diehl Mods after passing early leader Rex King Sr. on lap four.  Terry Young capped off Opening Night with his fifth career feature win in the Pic-A-Part Sportsman over Back-to-Back Champ Corey McPherson.
