Joey Saldana Scores Second In a Row with Commonwealth Clash Win

SARVER, Pa. - Sept. 20, 2014 - What a difference two days makes. Joey Saldana entered the weekend with a 41-race winless streak hanging over him. Then he won Friday at Eldora Speedway and followed that up with his second win in as many nights and seventh World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series victory of the season after he captured the Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville Speedway on Saturday.

Commonwealth Clash Race Report

SARVER, Pa. -- Sept. 22, 2012 -- Dale Blaney won the Commonwealth Clash after inheriting the lead from polesitter Craig Dollansky, who slowed dramatically with three laps remaining in a rain-delayed event at Lernerville Speedway.

The checkered flag waved shortly before 2 a.m. with Donny Schatz earning the runner-up position and Jason Sides rounding out the podium. (CLICK FOR FULL RACE REPORT)

Joey Saldana holds off a hard charging David Gravel to win Commonwealth Clash
Great night by Logan Wagner ends in disappointment battling for second


Sarver, PA (September 20, 2014) Coming off his sixth World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series win of the season last night at Eldora Speedway, Joey Saldana led all 35 laps of the $10,000-to-win Commonwealth Clash presented by GottaRace.com in the Motter Motorsports #71M. Saldana started on the outside pole alongside star of the night Logan Wagner who won heat race #4 and the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series Dash. Wagner’s night came to a disappointed end mid-race when he and David Gravel made contact on the front straightaway battling for second. The contact sent Wagner into the infield jersey barrier and a disappointing 22nd place finish. Gravel was all over Saldana for the final 10 laps, but could not find a clean way around him to make a pass for the lead. Saldana scored his seventh win of the season and first at Lernerville Speedway since 2010. Paul McMahan joined Saldana and Gravel on the podium. Hometown favorite Danny Holtgraver scored a solid top five finish; one spot behind fourth place finisher Shane Stewart. Fellow former Track Champion Tim Shaffer finished tenth.
