Lernerville Preview- All Stars Set To Tangle Friday Night; RUSH Sprints Make Series Debut

Tim Shaffer Brings a Hot Hand Into Friday Night's Race   -  John Stivason Photos

Sarver, PA (May 3, 2018) The stars will be coming out on Friday night, and they'll be shining on The Action Track as Tony Stewart's Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars make their one and only appearance at Lernerville Speedway.  The stacked lineup making it's way to the area includes plenty of firepower and will give fans in attendance their monies worth and then some perhaps as they headline a three division show that includes a history making performance as the RUSH Sprint Cars take the track for the first time ever.

The "Steel City Outlaw" Tim Shaffer comes into the Friday night red hot on the heels of his recent $100,000 victory last Saturday at the Sprint Car World Championships at Mansfield Motor Speedway and has already collected two All Star wins thus far in 2018. He'll be joined by series points leader and defending series champion Chad Kemenah and Texas based pilot Aaron Reutzel, who was very close to victory himself last Saturday night as the two swapped the lead in the final laps. Also in attendance will be "The Wild Child",  Jac Haudenschild who tends to keep fans on the edge of their seats on virtually every lap.

In 2017, it was central Pennsylvania driver Logan Wagner who invaded and took home the $5,000 novelty check as he fended off Danny Holtgraver to take his first career All Star victory. Wagner is set to return and joining him will be Rico Abreu who will be racing at Sharon Speedway on Saturday night as well as he makes his way across the country on his current tour.

Former track champion Carl Bowser is following the All Stars in 2018 and could be in the mix for a good finish in familiar surroundings and he'll be joined by tour mate John Garvin Jr who made a Lernerville appearance on opening night last Friday.  Former track champion Danny Holtgraver has had several memorable finishes in high profile touring series races with both the All Stars and World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint cars and will be looking to add another podium finish to his collection at Lernerville.

AJ Flick took the opening night win in the Peoples Gas DIRTcar Sprints and will be defending home turf on Friday night. The two time track champion left no doubt as he took command of the 25 lap feature after a mid race caution and never looked back, overcoming a stiff challenge from a strong running George Hobaugh en route to victory. Joining Flick from the home track will be Dan Shetler, Jack Sodeman Jr. and Sye Lynch whom could all be in the mix for a memorable night.

The Allegheny Sprint Tour 305 Sprint Cars will also be making their first appearance at The Action Track on Friday night. The last time the tour graced the clay occurred in October of 2017 as part of the annual Steel City Stampede where Greg Dobrosky took the honors in victory lane while in their other appearance in June of 2017, Drew Ritchey found himself under the checkers first.

Making their debut as the newest series of cars racing under the RUSH banner, the Wingless Sprints of the RUSH Sprint Cars join the evening's festivities on Friday night and they should be a pleasure to see. The division has received a great deal of interest thus far in their inaugural campaign. As many of 20 cars are said to be completed or nearing completion which is an outstanding number for a start up division. They'll be part of our upcoming RK Virgile Wednesday Night Mayhem Series starting in May and should provide a very entertaining brand of racing.  Early participants that have some name recognition include former Gale Ruth Jr., Arnie Kent, Mike Lutz and former Late Model driver Chad Ruhlman.

Pit gates will open at 4:00 PM with grandstands opening at 5 PM. All Star hot laps are scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM with time trials starting thereafter. Racing is slated to begin at 7:30 PM sharp.

Adult general admission is $25, students ages 11-17 are $15, and children 10 and under are free of charge. Pit admission will be $35 for DIRTcar members and $40 for non members. We look forward to seeing you there!
