McCreadie Etches His Name In Firecracker History in Thrilling Victory; Blair Strikes Twice

Sarver, PA (June 22, 2019) In perhaps the most thrilling and popular victory in the history of the annual Firecracker 100, Tim McCreadie found victory lane with an epic late race pass of leader and former champion Darrell Lanigan.  McCreadie started 11th on the grid and displayed patience in making his way forward in a caution free first 95 laps, through heavy lapped traffic en route to the victory.

As thrilling and deserved as McCreadie's victory was, it was a heartbreaking night for Canadian Ricky Weiss who looked primed to take his first career World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series win.  Weiss made his way past early leader Brandon Sheppard on lap 57 and began to pull away until he came upon the lapped car of Chub Frank and could not find a way around. Once he was able to pass Frank with just under 15 laps remaining, Weiss looked to be well on his way despite the best efforts of Lanigan who was in hot pursuit over the waning laps.

The shape of the race then changed for good in the last five laps as Weiss brought out the yellow flag on lap 95 with a flat right rear while leading.  McCreadie, who had made his way to the third spot, inherited second while Lanigan inherited the lead. The yellow flag waved again one lap later after McCreadie had appeared to take the lead from Lanigan with a move to the top of the speedway on the previous restart. However, the running order put McCreadie back to second. On the ensuing restart, McCreadie moved underneath Lanigan on the backstretch with just three laps remaining and never looked back as Lanigan's efforts to retake the lead came up just short.

Blair Leaves No Doubt in Uncle Sam 30

Russ King led the field to the initial green flag, and looked to add a third Uncle Sam trophy to his case. However, Max Blair had other ideas and made his way around King in the first five laps and then dealt with a hard charging Tyler Erb.  Blair and Erb partook in a hard fought battle starting at the 12 lap mark that saw Erb pass Blair for the lead and give it right back. Once back out in front, Blair simply drove away from the field and found himself in Terry Bowser Excavating Lane as winner of the $3,000 winner's share.

Blair Bests RUSH Late Model Field

In the $10,000 to win Bill Emig Memorial, it came down to a battle between Ross Robinson and Max Blair.  Kyle Lukon was the car to beat early on until Robinson came through with a lap 37 pass. The race then saw several restarts in and around the lap 40 mark as Blair positioned himself to battle for the win. Blair was able to use a late race restart to take the lead on lap 45 and then survived a pair of restarts himself as race leader en route to the win in the historic payday with the event being highest paying Crate Late Model race in the Northeast and Canada.

In other RUSH Late Model action,  Logan Zarin  took the win in the 15-lap "Wheelman" non-qualifiers race.
