Sarver, PA (July 20, 2021) World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series point leader Brad Sweet of Grass Valley, CA has finally climbed the mountain that is the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup. Sweet passed Lernerville Speedways Peoples Natural Gas DIRTcar Sprints point leader Sye Lynch of Apollo, PA on lap 12 and set sail to take his 14th Outlaws win of the season and his first Silver Cup!

Sye Lynch and Outlaw regular Davis Gravel led the 25-car field to the green with Lynch grabbing the early lead. By lap four, Lynch had stretched his lead and had caught lapped traffic. On the fifth circuit, Brad Sweet had made his way past Gravel and into the second spot from him third starting position.

While Lynch continued work traffic and pull away from the field, Michael Bauer jumped the cushion in turn 1 and took a heavy roll to bring out the events first and only red flag. Bauer was slightly shaken and taken back to his pit area in an ambulance but walked out under his own power.

When racing resumed, Lynch continued to lead but Sweet was hot on his trail and began to apply pressure as soon as the green dropped. As the duo entered turns 1 and 2 on lap seven, Sweet dove to the bottom and slid in front of the leader. Lynch powered back off the top side and was able to regain the lead heading down the backstretch of the speedway. The two battled back and forth through lap 12 when Sweet was finally able to make the pass stick coming out of turn two.

By lap 13 Sweet had stretched his lead by a good ten car lengths as Aaron Reutzel began to pressure Lynch for second. Reutzel made his way around Lynch for third before the events second caution slowed the action on lap 16 as Sheldon Haudenschild slipped off the speedway in turn 3.

With weather starting to threaten, lightning filled the sky as Sweet led the field back to the green flag. Sweet quickly pulled away from the field as Lynch, who led the first 12 laps fell back to sixth on lap 18. Sixth starting Donny Schatz had moved his way into the fourth position and began to pressure Gravel for the third spot. Gravel continued to hold off Schatz for third while they both gained ground on second place running Reutzel. Schatz was finally able to get by Gravel on lap 31 and eventually passed Reutzel for second as Sweet went on to claim the $25,000 top prize by 5.381 seconds over Schatz.

Reutzel made his way past Gravel for third and James McFadden, who started 11th, followed Gravel to the checkered flag in fifth. Tenth starting Logan Schuchart was sixth followed by Carson Macedo in seventh, Tim Shaffer battled his way up to eighth from his 15th starting position while Christopher Bell was ninth and Sheldon Haudenschild rebounded from his lap 16 spin to round out the top ten.
