Ken Schaltenbrand Memorial Brings ULMS to The Action Track; UEMS Returns from Six Year Hiatus; Pro Stocks Battle for $1,000 Saturday Night
Sarver, PA (September 6, 2023) Racing returns to The Action Track on Saturday, September 9 as the second annual Ken Schaltenbrand Memorial takes center stage at the Sarver speed plant with three divisions of racing action ready to entertain all fans in attendance. The Jay's Automotive ULMS Late Model Series will be in action on Saturday with a complete, $4,000-to-win program which will feature additional lap money as well. And, they'll be topless as fans will be able to enjoy watching the drivers working their way around the track inside the cockpit. They'll be joined by a special debut, as the once dormant UEMS EModified Series makes its return, ahead of a full racing slate forthcoming in 2024 for the newly revived racing series! They'll be racing in a $1,500 to win program with a total purse of over $7500 as drivers in the area prepare to make a rare Lernerville Speedway appearance. The Millerstown Pic-A-Part Pro Stocks will return following a two week hiatus, and while Tyler Dietz celebrated his fourth season title two weeks ago, there'll still be plenty to race for as they battle for a $1,000 top prize and also tune up for the upcoming Steel City Stampede in October.
Tyler Emory currently sits atop the ULMS points standings after 10 completed events and brings a 34 point lead over Ryan Montgomery heading into action on Saturday night. Behind them, Dylan Ceece, former Lernerville feature and sometimes weekly competitor Logan Zarin and Dave Stamm round out the top five. The ULMS last visited The Action Track on May 12 for the McConnell Memorial where Gregg Satterlee crossed under the checkers first for the win ahead of Alex Ferree and Chub Frank. Ferree was close to striking gold at last week's $12,000-to-win ULMS event at Bedford Speedway before contact with Mason Zeigler ended his opportunity. Ferree was leading with seven laps remaining at the time. Michael Norris earned his third track championship in 2023 within the Precise Products Late Models and could also be listed with Ferree as favorites representing the home track.
Two contenders that could also keep things interesting on the track are Tyler Dietz and Levi Yetter. Dietz was in the track championship battle with Norris well into the final main event of the year and has watched his Late Model program taking steps ahead year after year, while Yetter, a high school senior, nearly bested the entire field on championship night, yielding the lead late in the second half of the 25 lap main event. Colton Flinner, former track champion John Garvin Jr. and Ken Schaltenbrand could each find Terry Bowser Excavating Victory Lane should the chips fall their way as they each have the skills and the equipment to manage 30 fast laps around The Action Track ahead of the field.
Emods make their first series appearance of the season as the UEMS springs back to life on Saturday night! The United Emod Series will be utilizing UMP rules and sanctioning for their dates in 2023. UMP teams that have shown interest on attending and are expected to be on hand are former UEMS winner, Dan Davies of Warren, PA in the Wellbank Energy #71D Lethal Chassis, Ty Rhoades of Guys Mills, PA, Nathan Young of Painesville, OH, Jared Spalding of Troy, PA, George Dixon Jr. of Hesston, PA, Bud Watson of Kingsville, OH, Michael Altobelli of Saxton, PA and the Taylor Boys of Johnathan and Evan Taylor of Saltsburg are some of the teams that have reached out to UEMS Racing Series. The UEMS Modified Series has recently announced that there will be a mini point fund to go along with their limited schedule for the remainder of this season.
Tyler Dietz will have yet another chance to pull off two feature wins in a night as the defending Millerstown Pic-A-Part Pro Stock Champion will be looking to add yet another trophy to his collection thus far in 2023. However, with $1,000-to-win on the line, fans can expect some invaders from around the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Series to join the party on Saturday night looking for a nice payday. The Pro Stocks were plentiful at The Action Track in 2023, with car counts coming in at or above 20 on several occasions, and Saturday's count could be just as if not more plentiful with a few top names stopping by to boot.
Pits will open at 4 PM on Saturday with grandstands opening at 5 PM, hot laps at 6:30 PM followed by qualifying for the ULMS Late Models and racing at 7:30 PM. General admission is $18 while kids 10 and under will be admitted free. Pit passes will be available for $30. For those unable to attend in person, the entire night of racing will be streamed live on our platform at Dirt.TV via subscription ($24.99 monthly/$149.99/annually). We look forward to seeing you here!
